TOYOTA LAND CRUISER B6 ARMOURING

Toyota Land Cruiser is one of the most reliable and durable among SUVs, hence the most preferred armouring platform. For many years It has been the armoured SUV of choice for Government officials, Private Security Personnels, NGO's, embassies, and all international organisations operating in dangerous regions all over the world.

Harrow armors Land Cruisers to Protection level B4, B4+, B6 and B7 levels. All four sides of the passenger compartment and the roof of the vehicle are protected using high-quality (certified) armour steel and glass. The armouring is integrated inside the vehicle' cab and forms a complete self-supporting structure so as to avoid excessive stress on the vehicle's original structure. Doors are upgraded with Heavy-duty hinges and with in-built door-stop. Fuel-tank is protected with steel armour-plates. The battery and control module of the engine are protected to the same level as the opaque areas. Land Cruisers are available in various grades- GXR, VXR, GX and VX in both petrol and diesel variants.

LAND CRUISER ARMOURING PROCESS (B6 LEVEL)

Land Cruiser B6 Level Armouring
STEP 1: All four sides of the passenger compartment and the roof of the Land Cruiser are protected using high-quality armour steel and glass defeating 7.62x51mm M80 Nato Ball ammunition (U.S. NIJ level III, CEN level FB6/BR6) and 5.56x45 SS109 ammunition (CEN level FB5/BR5 and FB6/BR6) at 0° incidence (90° to the surface) and 10m range according to CEN1063 and CEN1522.

Ballistic windshield Installation
STEP 2OEM Windshield is removed and replaced with NIJ/CEN/STANAG tested Multi-layered ballistic glass. Its thickness range between 39mm to 80mm. All transparent areas are multi-layer and polycarbonate coated to protect against the following and all lesser weapons/ammunitions at 90° impact angle in accordance with the above specifications.
  • Calibre 7.62 x 39 mm, FJ/PB/FeC, AK 47 Kalashnikov
  • Calibre 5.56 x 45 mm, FJ/PB/SCP, M16 Colt
  • Calibre 7.62 x 51 mm, FJ/PB/SC, (FN "FAL"" / "LAR" NATO rifle

Floor Armoring

STEP 3: Floor of the Land Cruiser is fitted with a blast protection to protect occupants against fragmentation from simultaneous detonation of 2 DM-51 German ordnance hand grenades or equivalent.
Pillar Armoring

STEP 4: Vehicle's armor plates are stitch-welded using high-intensity MIG welders. The above process ensures the structural integrity is un-compromised by thermal and chemical variations of the material.

The interior armour-frame provides overlap for the large-surface armour components such as the door armour-plates and the windows.

Firewall Armoring

STEP 5: Firewall is armored using just three large pieces of overlapped ballistic steel to minimize welding points to form a significantly stronger armored firewall with no gaps. Increasing the number of steel pieces weakens the integrity of the firewall and reduces vehicle survivability against explosives or IED attacks.

Run flat Installation and Suspension & Brake Upgrading

STEP 6: Suspension and braking systems of the vehicle are assessed and are modified to support the added weight caused by the armor. Other armoring options for the vehicle are also installed at this time.

Armored Bulkhead Installation
STEP 7: An Armored bulkhead swing door is installed behind Land Cruiser's original rear door with large ballistic glass inserts.

OTHER ARMORED ENHANCEMENTS

Hinge mounting points are reinforced both in the pillars and in the doors in a way that the armouring of the door is supported by the armouring of the pillar.
